Choking
- Hold the child upside-down by the legs, or over your knee, or over a
chair with his
head well down. - Call for help or dial 999.
- Remember to keep calm.
- Slap sharply between the shoulder blades up to four times.
- Contact your doctor as soon as you can, or dial 999 for an ambulance if the person
is no better.
- Do not leave the casualty at any time unless you have to get help.
Poisons
- Find the bottle or container the poison came from, so that you can talk about it
to the doctor.
- Phone your own doctor or your nearest Accident and Emergency. Remember to take the
container with you if you go to hospital or doctor.
- Never try to make the patient sick.
